Terminology at UdeM

When managing your file and communicating with you, UdeM uses specific terms that you need to understand. Here are some of the most frequently used terms:

Registration number — Number assigned to you by UdeM when you apply for admission. It is used to identify you to institutional and government services. It corresponds to your UdeM file number.

UNIP — University personal identification number. This is a password. A temporary UNIP is assigned to you once your application for admission has been completed. It will enable you to connect to the e-mail service and your MonUdeM portal once your registration is complete.

Centre étudiant — The Centre étudiant, or student centre,  is a secure Web space where personal data can be stored and where members of the community can carry out operations related to their university studies. It allows employees to manage certain academic activities related to students’ studies. It corresponds to an administrative centre.

MonUdeM portal — A virtual portal that gives you access to your academic file, your e-mails, your reader file (library), your personal data, etc.

Cycle (level) — In the North American university system, the undergraduate level corresponds to the bachelor's degree (1st cycle). The graduate level corresponds to the Master's degree (2nd cycle) and the Ph.D. (3rd cycle).
