The training or research intern is admitted and registered by Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (GPS) as a trainee at the undergraduate, Master’s or Ph.D. level for a minimum period of one month and a maximum period of 12 months.

Throughout your placement, you will benefit from the following services:

  • Supervision by a UdeM faculty member;
  • Access to the University's libraries and the services provided to students by the Libraries Branch;
  • Access to IT services and support provided by Information Technology (IT);
  • With the agreement of your supervisor, and subject to your status in Canada, registration as a special (interest-only) student to take one or more courses at UdeM or participate in any other training activities;

Access to IT services will be deactivated at the end of your placement. To find out more about the rules for deactivating services, please consult the IT page.

This status also entitles you to:

  • an institutional e-mail address;
  • a Université de Montréal identity card (UdeM card);
  • Proof of registration issued by GPS on request, at a cost of $21.25.

Note: Training and research interns are officially considered interns. As such, they do not have student status and therefore cannot benefit from the student discount available with the Société de transport de Montréal Opus transit card.
