*The work permit will be issued to you by Canada Border Services when you arrive at the airport. It must be uploaded to your Centre étudiant (student centre) as soon as you arrive in Montreal. In the meantime, make sure that you always have the acknowledgement of receipt of your Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) work permit application in your possession.
3. Upload the required documents
Once you have applied online, you will receive an e-mail containing your student number (usually eight digits), an access code in the form "pxxxxxxx" and a personal identification number (UNIP). You will then be able to access your Centre étudiant and upload the required documents. To find out how to upload documents, visit the Admission website. If you have any problems with uploading, you can watch this video clip.
If you are unable to complete the upload, you must send the missing documents in PDF format to the following address: esp-international@umontreal.ca
Note: The Université de Montréal may, at any time during your stay, ask you to produce the originals or certified copies of all the documents required to verify their authenticity.
4. File review
The application is examined by Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (GPS) staff.
Note: Only complete applications will be processed.
The application will be processed within 7 to 10 working days of receipt of the application and the required official documents.
5. Confirmation of admission
Once they have received your uploaded documents, GPS staff will assess your application and issue a notice of decision, which you can consult by accessing your Centre étudiant using your access code and UNIP.
Note: Applicants who receive an offer of admission must, on arrival, complete their registration with the designated GPS staff member (payment of registration fees and uploading of the work permit to their Centre étudiant).
