From Admission to Graduation

Registration Process

Before students can register for courses, they must first be admitted to a program of study. To do so, they must complete an application form.

Once officially admitted to their program of study, students must draw up and submit a study plan (including the courses they have chosen and the deadline for completing them). To help them set realistic objectives and make informed choices, they can count on the help of a member of their academic unit.

Once their study plan has been accepted, students must contact their academic unit to register for their courses. They can also contact their academic unit to find out about important dates and regularly consult the Guichet étudiant information service for deadlines.

A checklist of important steps to follow for all programs of study is available to the student community so that they have all the information they need to successfully complete their graduate studies. Consult it regularly.

Course Registration

Registration will vary with the program of study. At the graduate level, your course selection is usually made by your student records management technician at the appropriate time. If you're studying in a short program (DESS, microprogram) and have only one active program, you can find the registration period for each session in your Centre étudiant and make your own course selection online. For all other questions, please contact your records management technician.

Course Change Period

During this period, students can add courses to their timetable or withdraw from courses and avoid a "withdrawal" reference on their transcript.

Deadline

Students should consult their academic unit's calendar to find out the deadline for making changes.

Withdrawal Period Without Penalty

During this period, students may withdraw from courses without having to pay tuition fees and without a "withdrawal" reference being made on their transcript.

Contact your academic unit for deadlines and consult the Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (GPS) Academic Regulations for further information.

Withdrawal Period With Penalty

During this period, the student may withdraw from courses but will be required to pay the corresponding tuition fees. Their transcript will include a "withdrawal" reference.

Deadline for Withdrawing With Penalty

No later than the ninth class following the official start of the session.

Graduation Process

Graduation occurs almost every month of the year.

Degree requisitions are prepared by GPS. They are then approved by the relevant faculty council and forwarded to the Registrar's Office. The Registrar submits them to the University's Executive Committee for final approval and then issues the university diplomas.

The entire process of granting degrees takes three to four months from the start of the process to the issuing of the diploma.
