From Admission to Graduation
Registration
Registration in courses is a step that is independent from the admission application to a program. After being officially admitted to the selected program, students must satisfy the procedures for registration in courses within the deadlines specified by their academic unit.
These procedures include the submission of a plan of study in which students indicate the courses that they intend to take and the timeframe within which they intend to complete the program. It is highly important to create a sound, stimulating and realistic plan of study with the help of one of the academic program advisers. Once this plan has been submitted and accepted, the student can register in courses while respecting the established deadlines.
It is important to regularly consult the Student Kiosk in order to familiarize yourself with the deadlines to be respected.
Registration in a Program
The choice of courses is made within the student’s academic unit and, in certain cases, every term.
Course-Change Period
During this period, students can change courses in their schedule or withdraw from those in which they are already registered. In this last case, no “withdrawal” reference will be made on their transcript. Students should consult the academic calendar of their Faculties to know the deadlines to be respected.
Withdrawal Period Without Penalty
During this period, students may withdraw from one or more courses while being exonerated from the corresponding tuition fees. The transcript will show the "withdrawal" reference. Students should consult the academic calendar of their Faculties to know the deadlines to be respected

Deadlines
At the very latest, at the end of the ninth class following the official beginning of courses.
Graduation Process
The Graduation Process occurs three times a year, during the first month following the term of the student’s graduation:
January 15 for students who graduated during the autumn term
May 15 for students who graduated during the winter term
September 15 for students who graduated during the summer term
Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (GPS) prepares the graduation queries. The Council of the disciplinary faculties approves and conveys them to the Registrar’s Office. The latter sends them to the Executive Committee of the Université de Montréal for final approval and subsequently proceeds to the issuance of the degrees.
The whole Graduation Process may take three months from the beginning of the process to the degree’s issuance. For example, the process for a student who completed his program in October starts on January 15, lasts for about three months and ends by mid-April.
